Music: John Forte Left A Verse Open For You

So below is a letter and song from my old labelmate John Forte. He left a verse open for anyone who wants to jump on it. I recently ran into him at SOBs; his vibe was so laid back and “knowing.” And if you don’t know what he’s accomplished, where he made his mistakes, and where he has landed as a man, read here and watch here first, then read his letter and rock on below!

I’ve been in the final throes of the new album for some time. Last night, as I read over the day’s events, I felt unrestricted and inspired. I felt in my heart of hearts that the boundaries of yesteryear were no more. There have been so many requests from artists (“known” and “unknown” alike) to collaborate… Unfortunately, I can’t accept every invitation. Last night I decided to write and release a track that would give any and every artist the opportunity to collaborate our energies. The result, “Oil on the Shore”

I left the second verse open. There’s room to breathe. There’s room to be creative. There’s room to be heard.

I encourage artists to download the track, write to it, record it and feel that they are included.

Peace and love,

John Forté

Free’s Hot Song Pick: Wale Featuring Marsha Ambrosius – “Diary”

What a beautiful and passionate record. 5 afros! Sometimes words are just words, music is just music. The perfect combination of the two plus exceptional talent is what makes a great song. Support this record, y’all!

Sports: Cleveland Wipes Up Boston

I think I actually felt sick watching this game last night.

At one point Cleveland lead by some 30 points! SMH. C’s, c’mon with the turnovers and unnecessary missed shots. And where’s your defense at? In the Gulf? Let’s go, these are THE PLAYOFFS not THE PLAY-AROUNDS. (And now back to my regularly goofy self.) Thanks for enduring my outburst.
