While he’s getting his music career back on track, T.I. has his eyes set on acting again.

According to Deadline.com, T.I. has signed on to play a bounty hunter in the upcoming comedy movie Identity Theft. The film will also star Jason Bateman and Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy.

T.I.’s character hunts both of them, as Bateman’s character becomes an unlikely companion for McCarthy’s character after she steals his identity. T.I. is co-starring in Kelsey Grammer’s series Boss for Starz, as well as the second season of his own VH1 series Family Hustle. On the big screen, he most recently starred in and produced Screen Gems’ “Takers.”

And in other news, T.I. recently had an interview with morning radio show “The Breakfast Club” and spoke on wanting to retire from rap music.

“I want out, man. What the game is going to and what has evolved, it goes against what I represent.

“What I embody, this game contradicts that. I want out. I’m in it because I love music and I have obligations, contractually.

“At one time this music was about speaking to the people who felt like you feel. Now, the people I’m speaking to, they don’t necessarily feel like how I feel. In my day, if you were rapping about something you weren’t really living, that was a strike against you. You were held accountable.

“Nowadays, nobody even expects you to live up to the things you rap about. That goes against what I represent, what I stand for. So if they outsell me, then that’s just all the more better for me to fade to the back and cross my legs on my desk.”

Earlier this week, GQ surprised everyone by debuting D’Angelo’s first interview and photoshoot in 12 years. In the interview, D’Angelo revealed the meaning behind his “Untitled” video, why he chose to step away from music, his struggle with drugs, and much more.

On how he was scared to die after J. Dilla’s death and not attending his funeral
“I felt like I was going to be next. I ain’t bullshitting. I was scared then. I was so fucked-up, I couldn’t go.”

On the power of music
“This is a very powerful medium that we are involved in. I learned at an early age that what we were doing in the choir was just as important as the preacher. It was a ministry in itself. We could stir the pot, you know? The stage is our pulpit, and you can use all of that energy and that music and the lights and the colors and the sound. But you know, you’ve got to be careful.”

On director Paul Hunter saying the “Untitled” video was about family and religion
“It’s so true: We talked about the Holy Ghost and the church before that take. The veil is the nudity and the sexuality. But what they’re really getting is the spirit.”

On how “Untitled” changed his fans’ perception of him and how he saw himself
“One time I got mad when a female threw money at me onstage, and that made me feel fucked-up, and I threw the money back at her. I was like, ‘I’m not a stripper.’

“When I got back home, yeah, it wasn’t that easy to just be. I think that’s the thing that got me in a lot of trouble: me trying to just be Michael, the regular old me from back in the day, and me fighting that whole sex-symbol thing. You know: ‘Hey, I ain’t D’Angelo today. I’m just plain old Mike, and I just want to hang out with my boys and do what we used to do.’ But, damn, those days are fucking gone.”

On being sober now after battling a drug addiction
“Any person who’s dealt with substance abuse, it’s an ongoing thing. That’s the mantra—one day at a time—right? So you’re going to have good days and bad days, but for the most part, I have a grip on it.”

Last week, Will Smith made headlines after he slapped a Ukranian male reporter who attempted to kiss him while on the red carpet at the Moscow premiere of Men In Black III. Will appeared on “The Late Show with David Letterman” and commented on the situation.

“We’re doing an interview, right? And he says, ‘I’m your biggest fan. Can I have a hug?’ So I go to give this joker a hug and he tries to lean in to kiss me.

“It’s just awkward, Dave. They were like, ‘Oh, no, we’re sorry, you know. It’s just his ‘schtick,’ you know. And I said, ‘Well, that’s why his a** got schtuck.’

The 2012 BET Awards will air live from Los Angeles on July 1 at 8PM ET.

Rapper 2 Chainz was arrested earlier today at LaGuardia Airport after brass knuckles were found in his carry on.

According to TMZ, 2 Chainz, real name Tauheed Epps, was on his way from NYC to North Carolina for a concert.

2 Chainz was entering the Delta terminal to fly to a show in North Carolina … when the TSA discovered brass knuckles in his bag.

Law enforcement tells TMZ … police were called to the scene … and 2 Chainz was taken into custody for misdemeanor possession of a criminal weapon at 1:45 local time.

2 Chainz, who is currently on Drake’s Club Paradise tour, is reportedly still in police custody.
