Along with Beyonce’s post-baby debut last night at the Carnegie Hall concert benefitting the United Way and Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation, Jay Z also performed his song “Glory” for the first time.
While the stage was lit up in blue, Jay performed the track, which was written about and features the couple’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter. According to MTV, after performing the emotional song, Jay Z said, “I didn’t think I was gonna make it through that one, that was tough.”
Beyond “Glory,” he also shared the stage with Nas and Alicia Keys, and ran through 90 minutes worth of his hits.
This makes for only the second time in history that a Hip Hop artist has played at the prestigious Carnegie Hall. But more from the benefit concert is to come, as Jay Z will take the stage again tonight.
