In the end, there can only be one. The New England Patriots and the New York Giants head to Indianapolis to square off once again in the Super Bowl. And once again, these two quarterbacks are trying to build on the legacies that they have created.
Quarterback Eli Manning has been on a different level since that unlikely championship run in 2007. He has been more assertive, displayed more confidence and seems to have complete command of the offense. This year, he became the unquestioned leader of this team as the Giants basically won games offensively on the strength of his arm.
In this huge matchup against the Patriots, Eli must get some type of help. Running backs Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw must be effective in the running game, or at least create the threat of the run. The main thing to keep an eye on in the running game is the interior of the Giants offensive line. They have the inevitable task of trying to block mammoth defensive tackle Vince Wilfork. If this guy is allowed to wreak terror and control the line of scrimmage, then the game will be on Eli’s shoulders and that opens the door for Belichick to break out his defensive wizardry against Eli.
If balance is achieved by the Giants, I expect that Eli will be able to take advantage of the matchups on the outside with wide receivers Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. These guys have been giving teams fits in the playoffs and they will definitely give the Patriots cornerbacks problems. I expect Nicks and Cruz to make some plays, but the thing that the Patriots have to do is keep these guys in check.
A guy to keep an eye out for on the Patriots defense is Rob Ninkovich. He is a speed rusher who can make big plays and could cause issues for the offensive tackles of the Giants. Another key player in this game to watch will be wide receiver/defensive back Julian Edelman. If he is on the field, expect the Giants to target him every single time. And if the Giants are smart, they will go to three or four wide receiver sets to get him on the field.
Tom Brady seems like he has been at this forever. But for him, time is running short. He is getting up there in age and his chances are running out. This game not only means a lot to the Patriots, it means a lot to his legacy as well. With a Super Bowl win, Brady would be tied in Super Bowl wins with one of his boyhood idols, Joe Montana.
The onus this game will be on Brady’s offensive line. They are going against one of the most active defensive lines in football. If Brady is afforded some time, he will be able to hit weapons like tight end Rob Gronkowski, tight end Aaron Hernandez and wide receiver Wes Welker. Another big part of this game will be Benjarvis Green-Ellis aka The Law Firm.
The Giants showed that they can be affected by the running game when they played against the 49ers in San Francisco. With that being said, I would expect the Patriots to run the football a little bit more this game to slow down the pass rush. If the Patriots aren’t protecting the quarterback, then Brady is going to have a long day. Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has been a beast all year and I wonder how the Patriots are going to react to his freakish athletic ability.
But he isn’t the only guy you have to worry about on that Giants defensive line. Defensive ends Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora have the ability to wreak havoc as well. Another guy who I think will be key in this game is wide receiver Deion Branch. Branch seems to show up the most when Brady needs him and I would expect him to have some favorable matchups against the likes of cornerback Aaron Ross possibly.
As for how I expect this game to go, the Giants and the Patriots will both come out with some fire this game. Tom Brady and Eli Manning are both playing great, so I expect them to come out and make some plays. Both defenses will make their share of plays as well. I expect this game will be in the mid-20s and that it will come down to the fourth quarter and quarterback play. Will it be Tom Terrific or will it be Eli the Clutch? I think Tom Terrific steps up in the big moment and Brady cements himself as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game.

It’s going to be an epic game but it looks like we disagree with the winner. I think it’ll be the first OT SB game ever. I boldly predicted it and booked it on my show.
Cant wait!

Should live up to the hipe as the few yearz we have had great superbowl games superstars n future hall of framers all making a name for them selves with that said Pats are hard to beat twice in a year the GMen are hard to beat if you allow them to run the Ball I got whoever got the Ball the LastTime Hopefully NFC continue its Superbowl Win Streak
That would be an epic ending indeed if the game went to overtime Andrew.
Great post! I agree that Deion Branch has been somewhat forgotten about through this Super Bowl week. I also think that if Devin McCourty steps up his game, all of the offensive weapons that the Giants have could drastically be weakened.
Either way, Patriots are going to take this game 27-24.
McCourty could step up, but I think that Chung is the key guy, not McCourty.
I don’t see Brady losing 2 Super Bowls in a row to the same team, but the Giants are playing inspired ball. Pats will win this
The Patriot defense can’t keep up with Eli and the Giants’ prolific offense. Giants win.

Hey Sam. The Giants were on a revenge tour all the way up until last week. The Patriots have been on a revenge tour all playoffs long. They owe the Giants. And the Patriot defense has been different in the playoffs. Brady will not be denied today.
Tom ain’t gonna do it!
Hey Al. Explain why you think he won’t?
Brady is going to be playing well, but I doubt the defense’s ability to slow down the Giants.
We’ll see what happens, but I wouldn’t bet against the Brady/Belichick combo.
