It has been 12 years since D’Angelo released his Grammy award winning album Voodoo, but last summer, it was announced that new material from the singer was on the way. This past week, D’Angelo made one of his first performances in years when he kicked off his European tour.
While in Stockholm, Sweden, D’Angelo performed his hits along with a couple of new songs that are set to be on his upcoming album James River, one called “Sugar Daddy” and another named “The Charade.”

Questlove of The Roots, who is working on the album, said the project is about 97% done. But in the meantime, fans can catch D’Angelo in Paris, Amsterdam, London, Oslo, and Zurich as he continues his tour.
And speaking of comebacks, Lauryn Hill also performed in Stockholm recently and told fans that she hopes to follow up her 1998 multi-platinum debut The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, with an album that tells the story of her absence honestly.
“I have to believe that what I did the first time, you received my sincerity from it. So you knew through all those years, all those things that people said, they had no idea what was going on behind the scenes.
“But understand, my intention was always to come back and give a better version of the story. A more truthful, more honest, more transparent version of the story. To be a more whole me, so I can encourage you to be a more whole you.”
