president obama brewer President Obama, Governor Jan Brewer Have Tense Exchange Of Words

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and if that’s the case, this photo of President Obama and Arizona Governor Jan Brewer tells a story of an encounter gone wrong.

Yesterday, the President made his way to Phoenix, Arizona for a visit to Intel. After he descended the stairs of the Air Force One, he was greeted by Governor Jan Brewer, and things took a left from there.

While on the tarmac, Brewer handed the President an envelope that she now says contained a handwritten invitation for Obama to sit down with her to discuss Arizona’s growth and future plans.

But the President brought up Brewer’s new book, Scorpions For Breakfast, in which she describes a previous meeting she had with him, insinuating that he was being condescending. In the book she writes:

“It was [as] though President Obama thought he could lecture me, and I would learn at his knee. He thinks he can humor me and then get rid of me.”

During the incident, Brewer was caught pointing her finger in the President’s face while Obama was speaking to her. A White House pool reporter described yesterday’s tense exchange of words:

“The scene was far from the norm. Aside from the pointing, they appeared to talk over each other and he appeared to walk away from her while they were still talking.”

The White House also spoke on the encounter, but in softer terms:

“The President said he’d be glad to meet with her again, but did note that after their last meeting, a cordial discussion in the Oval Office, the governor inaccurately described the meeting in her book. The President looks forward to continuing taking steps to help Arizona’s economy grow.”

Brewer has since gone on multiple TV and radio outlets suggesting the President is “thin skinned,” though she previously claimed she has “all the respect in the world for the office of the president.”

But regardless of what was said between them, was Brewer disrespectful for putting her finger in the President’s face? I mean, he is the President. Were they both wrong? Speak on it below.
