Afternoon my peoples..hope all is well and that everyone is having a great day. I’ve been in Washington D.C for a week and I think I loovve it here. Did some radio with Tigger on WPGC 95.5, and I’m having fun finding new spots, meeting new people and discovering old things.
If one is going to “hang” out. D.C. is the place to do it….there are soo many people down here and theres so much to do. Tigger started his extra sexy Happy Hour on Wednesday night at “Layla’s”. Laid back vibe and the DJ was making it happen , once the partied started going it was unstoppable..but this wasn’t a normal party it felt like the ol’school house parties!! I mean we had a soul train line and evertything , i haven’t laughed that hard in a minute so shouts to Tig! make it do what it do Man!
The next stop on the “spot to be ” list was “SideLine” former Redskin Levar Arrington’s new lounge/restaurant/bar..Now I remember seeing Levar at the Hip Hop Summit in Atlanta last year and he had his blueprints with him and I remember seeing the layout for his new venture and how excited he was about getting it together.. I wished him luck.. Last night..I walked into his blueprint come to life and allI can say is WO! The man is a finisher.this place is huge , looks just like the drawings I remembered and is jam packed. The food was great (except for the mini-burgers which I hear are being UPGRADED) , Drinks, atmosphere and service were ALL good.. no really, like seriously tv’s everywhere, private booths seating and a separate bar area and patio.
Sideline is colored Redskins colors of course, and is steps from the stadium they play at (chhhhaaaachhhiinngg Lavar you go boy! haha) so if your ever in D.C people go check out SideLines “where the players are’. And lookout for the openings of Sidelines in Atlanta and Philly. Congrats to Team Lavar for bringing the blueprint to life. I’m inspired
I won’t lie we went to eat and ended up hanging out there til almost 2am.which is late for me..i like to get my beauty rest you know. So I crash at some friends from Boston’s pad near Howard University. and then the sun comes up and yall know I’m on my quest to be healthier and Phat Free..so i have to get up but today its soo hard..but i gotta do it… so I get my friends up to go with me to the track for support ..after handling my business like a true Olympian we walk back to the house and lo and behold a real live “block party” has begun..Cars have been moved, neighboors of my friends are out on the street sweeping and setting up grills, at the end of the block the music is blasting and I’m talking Old School for hours on end from “Cutie Pie” to some Betty Wright, Al Green, Earth Wind & Fire.
and then I see it…someone has turned the fire hydrant on. I am psyched..so i run in take my sneakers off and that’s all she wrote..There’s nothing like a fire hydrant.. no damn yacht , or ocean water can top this..(c’mon work with me I’m having a childhood glory moment here) .an officer tried to write me a ticket for having too much fun, so I wrote her one back for wearing to much blue lololol!
